Her jet was circling the city for days. Invisible yes, but my keen eyesight could make out the subtle lines of the jet's fuselage, and her unmistakable flying pattern. I could tell she loved to fly. The fast takeoff as if she couldn't wait to get back to the sky. First a tight circle around the city, checking in on her loved ones. Then she expanded the circle, looking to quell evil wherever it may lie.
Mostly, I knew when she was near because I sensed a radiance, an energy like no other. It was a fire I hadn't experienced in a long time. I could have just eaten, but my stomach felt empty. All I had to do was close my eyes and I imagined her smiling and those beautiful eyes looking back at mine. Her citrus scent filled the air and it was like a sparkling spring morning even on the dreariest of winter days. And, there was no mistaking those boots, perhaps my kryptonite.
Little did she know how I longed for her to park her jet nearby. Walk down my drive and up to my door in those boots.
She never knew how I longed to be close to her, to reach out to gently put my arm around her, hold her when she was feeling down after a long day. I wanted to give her the world, and be there when she saw and experienced new sights and cities for the first time. I wanted to share with her my world, my home...
Perhaps my downfall, as she did show up one day. My heart nearly leapt out of my chest, and in my deluded state I could not run. I could barely breath. There were no elaborate escape routes or plans hatched. I opened the door with a big goofy grin. For once I wanted to look into her eyes and see if she felt the same way, but it was not to be. The rest was a blur as she lead me onto her jet, bound up like a package and dropped me off at the nearest police station.
Years later, here in my cell I have nothing but time to think back and wonder if I could do it all differently. Had I met her years before I began my life of crime, would she have accepted a simple lab assistant's invitation to lunch? A chance to win her over, gain a second date and a kiss... if only.
I get "outside" for an hour each day inside an 18x18-foot titanium electrified cage. I squint through the bars hoping and wondering if I might see her jet fly over. Sometimes I think I catch a whiff of her scent, but then it's gone. If not today, then perhaps the next.

End of Summer Daze
It's been a long day,Driving all night in an endless sea of rain,
When all I can see are the stars,
Moving, but not getting anywhere,
Shuffling the cards, but the joker is always on top,
Long way to edge of the porch,
Long way to the edge of the sun that just won't set,
Long way to find the door, but just won't turn,
Burn the day, burn the night,
Burning away days that will never be,
Burning time I don't have to give,
Can I find the hand, the rope, the net to keep from falling,
An endless dream on a simmering night,
Falling 'til I wake...
Want to give her a hug, but she's tough as nails,
She shines a light when there is none,
And I see her soft side peek through,
So much I want to say, share, do...
Never realized how much I missed her smile.

I Wanna Make Tacos With You
Our hands will meet in the tomatoes,
While our toes meet on the floor,
Place my hand on your back as you reach for the salsa,
Your seductive citrusy scent a nice pair,
Pass me a shell,
And I'll add some lettuce,
Share a laugh and a bite,
Pieces fall without care,
A hug after the dishes,
Some wine and a kiss,
Your lips soft and sweet,
Just another evening in paradise.
While our toes meet on the floor,
Place my hand on your back as you reach for the salsa,
Your seductive citrusy scent a nice pair,
Pass me a shell,
And I'll add some lettuce,
Share a laugh and a bite,
Pieces fall without care,
A hug after the dishes,
Some wine and a kiss,
Your lips soft and sweet,
Just another evening in paradise.

Darkness on the Edge of a Spring Day
Darkness on the edge of a spring day,
The creek rages in a rainstorm,
And I'm caught outside,
Caught and I can't get out,
Caught in a sleepless night,
Caught out in the cold,
Colder than anyone could have known,
And I have no hat,
No hand to hold along the pines,
Save yourself they say,
But everyone needs saving now and then,
Even Wonder Woman in her black boots could use a shoulder to lean on, an ear to bend, a smile to welcome, an embrace to call home.
Out there in the darkness,
She carries the world.
The creek rages in a rainstorm,
And I'm caught outside,
Caught and I can't get out,
Caught in a sleepless night,
Caught out in the cold,

A Quiet Night
Trees etched against a dark grey sky,
A moment to stop and wonder,
What piece of the heavens is lucky enough to catch your eye,
Which stars will see your smile,
A glow that rivals the sun,
The formidable moon is tucked away.
A moment to stop and wonder,
What piece of the heavens is lucky enough to catch your eye,
Which stars will see your smile,
A glow that rivals the sun,
The formidable moon is tucked away.

Wonder Woman's Got a Brand New Pair of Boots
Wonder Woman’s got a brand new pair of boots,
They’re brown with spike heels,
Done up in disguise,
She can kill with her smile,
Dressed in pink she’s gone in a flash,
The invisible plane throttled to the max,
She’ll set your soul on fire,
Hurtling through the air,
Gasping and laughing,
Wanting more… if you dare,
In an instant back on firm ground,
And it’s all in my head,
A lingering vapor trail of an extraordinary girl,
The smell of pure sunshine permeates the air.
They’re brown with spike heels,
Done up in disguise,
She can kill with her smile,
Dressed in pink she’s gone in a flash,
The invisible plane throttled to the max,
She’ll set your soul on fire,
Hurtling through the air,

And it’s all in my head,
A lingering vapor trail of an extraordinary girl,
The smell of pure sunshine permeates the air.

May flowers and golden sun...
May flowers and golden sun,
A rush of wind and the warbling finch,
Follow me down the rocky path,
And with each glint of fading sun,
A crush of delight draws the calming moon.

Follow me down the rocky path,
And with each glint of fading sun,
A crush of delight draws the calming moon.
